Task 15 - Ancillary Task (billboard)
As one of the ancillary tasks, I had to construct a billboard for the magazine I have created in order to then use it as a advertising platform. When doing so, I found it tricky due to how simple a billboard should be, I found it hard to not go above what is required and actually keep it to a minimum because if I didn't do this it would look too overcrowded and in fact, put the audience off of the magazine as they would issue the design of the billboard to the design on the final product. I wanted to keep the billboard straight to the point and easy for the audience to consume so, it would then be more likely to pick up sales for the magazine. I have included: the masthead, the slogan, a preview of the front cover, the social media platforms that can be found with an Underground branch, a selling tag and when the magazine is out. I personally believe that these are the most important features to sell the magazine on the billboard and hope that this is a successful product.

Task 6: Audience Consumption
From this questionnaire, I was able to gain the knowledge of what a typical person would get out of the choice of my media product. I asked approximately 30 people within the school to fill out this questionnaire, different age groups - including teachers therefore there was a wide spread of answers.

Question 1 had a dominant answer of being one time a month people are mostly likely to purchase a magazine so, with this, I feel that a regional magazine produced every season would be perfect because it would be approx. 6 times a year rather than every month so, more people are likely to buy it because they are not needing to pay out all the time for the same magazine. From the red on the pie-chart you can outline the majority therefore I feel that the outcome I have generated from this would cater everyone in the best way possible.
Question 2 had various answers however there was a common theme. Examples of the answers produced were: the colouring, the masthead, key-image and story and if there were competitions included. Therefore, all the generic conventions of a magazine are the typical selling points so, need to ensure that each is crafted in order to maintain a popular product for my audience.
Question 7 was a big turning point for my magazine due to this was the idea behind the unique selling point - having the idea of crossing the regional genre with the fashion one because it will then generate a broader following also, within previous research regional magazines were not popular within the younger age bracket therefore, by using the fashion element it will allow the age range to become more open. Also, the idea was that each issue of the magazine (regarding the season) would have a different sub-genre to link with the regional over-arching genre - examples being: fashion, what's on guide, music etc. The audience will be kept engaged with the magazine due to being unaware of what to expect each month. From the questionnaire, you can see the results that the majority of people liked the idea of having a sub-genre meaning, that it would be the perfect idea for the magazine I am creating. The results from the questionnaire allowed me to gain the results that my hypothesis set out therefore I was really excited to compose my product as the audience inspired what I had in mind. Therefore, I am hoping that my magazine will become a big asset to the market.
